Jarim Sarim Yeshey Tshogay

Here’s an inspirational movie that has a lot to do with sticking to one’s goal in life.
Jarim Sarim Yeshey Tshogay (Tsokye Tshomo Karchung) is an intelligent and bright girl, with an extraordinary character and a big dream of becoming Miss Bhutan.
While she struggles in her poor life with her father (Kheng Wangchuk), who doesn’t have a proper job, she is mocked in school for having a queer character.  But she doesn’t care about what others have to say about her.  She is bold and confident although at times she gives into exaggerations to spice up conversations.
Her father doesn’t support her going to school or participating in the Miss Bhutan contest, yet she finds her way.  Her best friend Darling (Ulap Leki) and her father’s rival Chamey (Phurba Thinley) support her throughout.
The contest totally reforms her character and reveals her talents.  The tagline is that one should never give up.
The setting is in Drugyel HSS and other areas in Paro and Thimphu.  The movie has good image quality and well directed scenes, with the sequences flowing closely and smoothly.
The lead actor, Tshering Gyaltshen, who acts as Kencho, has very few scenes.  He portrays his role well.
Spectators who talked to Kuensel at the city cinema, where the movie is being screened, said the movie was worth watching.  Some said Tsokey Tsomo Karchung shouldn’t have overdone her acting, especially the way she speaks.
Jarim Sarim Yeshey Tshogay is also actor Karma Choechong’s debut movie as a director.
The movie was made with a budget of more than Nu 1.7M.
Karma Choechong said directing for the first time was challenging yet very interesting. “As an actor, I just had to keep in mind my own dialogues, but as a director, I had to know the dialogues of all the actors to set a proper sequence,” he said. “Not just that, I had to direct the whole cast and crew of the movie and doing this job for the first time was not easy.”
